The event will bring together international delegations from different European countries, creating a space for exchange, collaboration and joint reflection on the social and emotional impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on young people.
Friday, 30 January: youth, mental health and sport
The first day will begin with the transfer of delegations to the Town Hall of Xaló, where an institutional welcome and official presentation of the project will take place, including short presentations by the partner organisations and a group photo.
During the morning, participants will take part in a participatory workshop on youth and mental health in the post-COVID era, followed by an introduction to pilota valenciana, focusing on its history, values and cultural significance.
After lunch at Restaurant Aleluia, the afternoon will be dedicated to practical pilota valenciana workshops, held in the streets of Xaló, allowing participants to experience this traditional Valencian sport first-hand.
Saturday, 31 January: participation, alliances and local Europe
The second day will focus on youth participation and the creation of European alliances at local level. The programme will begin with a workshop on promoting youth engagement through traditional sports.
Participants will then visit the Xaló winery and the local Sunday market (El Rastro), offering an opportunity to experience local culture and community life.
Following lunch at Restaurant Can Caus, a guided tour of Xaló will take place, including the old mill, stately houses and the water route, highlighting the municipality’s history, landscape and identity.
The event will conclude with a closing ceremony, featuring traditional dances, local folklore, distribution of materials and gifts, as well as a farewell dinner and an intercultural evening, during which each delegation may share typical products from their home country.
Through this project, Xaló strengthens its commitment to youth, mental health, European cooperation and the active role of rural municipalities in building a more cohesive, inclusive and supportive Europe.
